The GCI Seminar 2023

Eligibility

  • Current secondary school educators and administrators
  • The format of this program is entirely in English. Sessions include group discussions and active class participation. Therefore, to succeed, Educators must possess a highly developed proficiency in spoken and written English. 
Commitment

  • Must commit to attend the Seminar at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 27 - August 1, 2023, in its entirety
  • Complete all pre- and post-program requirements
What GCI is looking for

  • Educators aspiring to include Discussion-Based Learning, Design Thinking and Human Connectivity (the GCI Method) in their classroom
  • Educators interested in preparing students for leadership roles and initiating positive change in their own communities

Cost

Tuition for the Seminar is US$3,900
  • Tuition covers lodging for 5 nights, meals, organized activities, workbooks, required reading and transportation between Seminar venues
  • Round-trip travel to St Andrews, Scotland is not included
  • A limited number of need-based financial aid for tuition and travel are available

  • Headshot (optional)
  • If applying for financial aid or a travel grant, applicants will need to provide their most recently filed US Tax Returns Form 1040, Non-US Tax Returns/Forms - Form 1040-equivalent Summary Page, or similar documentation that verifies income and assets.
  • Application fee US$35


The Seminar is a 6-day residential program for secondary school educators and administrators. The Seminar's unique program not only exposes participants to an ethics-based leadership curriculum, but also to peers from around the globe. Since 2018, past participants have included educators from Brazil, Egypt, Japan, Jordan, Somaliland and South Africa, and more. During the program, participants will also engage with and observe secondary school students who are participating in the GCI Summit.

Secondary school educators and administrators are exposed to Discussion-Based Learning, Design Thinking and Human Connectivity (the GCI Method). This is an ethics-based leadership curriculum grounded on project and discussion-based methodologies, for educators who want to instill global competence in their students.

The application for the GCI Seminar 2023 opened on October 25, 2022 and will close on February 13, 2023.
