Teaching Assistant for the GCI Summit 2025
Eligibility
TA Applicants must meet the following criterion:
- Current college sophomore or above and/or at least 20 years old, recent college graduate or graduate student
- Prior experience working with youth as a teacher, resident advisor, mentor or counselor
- GCI Ambassador (alumni of GCI Fellowship or LEAD Challenge program)
Commitment
If selected, GCI Teaching Assistants must commit to the following:
- GCI Summit at the University of St Andrews from July 17-29 (including Orientation, Summit, and wrap-up)
- All pre and post-program requirements, including virtual orientation calls
- A background check
What GCI is looking for
GCI is seeking proactive leaders who are enthusiastic to learn and interact with students from other cultures. Successful applicants will be interested in social entrepreneurship and have excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. Past experience working with secondary school students, living or traveling extensively abroad, or learning another language is preferred.
Desired Experience
- Experience as a camp counselor, college RA, or working with adolescents in a structured environment
- Ability to lead group events and facilitate planned workshops
- Highly responsible and comfortable with enforcing rules
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team
- Flexible and comfortable pivoting
- Engaging and energetic personal affect
Expectations During the Summit
- Work closely with and receive coaching from the Bald Mountain Meadow team
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the Fellows
- Serve as a role model for the Fellows, especially as related to maintaining the standards laid out in the Rules & Regulations
- Adapt to an intensive schedule with evolving projects and events
- Support Fellows in developing GSPs
- Lead extracurricular activities in afternoons and evenings
- Play an active role in building community
- Execute program logistics and operations as instructed by the Bald Mountain Team
- Assist the Fellows in maintaining dorm cleanliness
- Be available for the entire Summit and able to disconnect from outside work, school, or volunteer commitments

GCI is seeking proactive leaders from within the GCI Ambassadorship community to serve as Teaching Assistants for the 2025 Fellowship cohort. We invite you to apply if you have a record of excellent oral and written communication and an ongoing enthusiasm for learning about different cultures. Past experience working with secondary school students, living or traveling extensively abroad, or learning other languages is preferred. Teaching Assistants must be able to attend orientation at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 17-19, 2025, the entire GCI Summit from July 20-28, 2025 and stay for the debrief and wrap-up through July 29, 2025.
Compensation
GCI will offer a stipend for the Teaching Assistant role during the GCI Summit. Orientation and Summit expenses including room and board, airfare, and local travel to/from St Andrews, Scotland and transportation during the Summit will be covered by GCI.
